Very busy run, lots of crowd support all the way around, including steel band at the Oracle roundabout. Amazing finishing in the Madejski stadium with a cheering crowd!

Very nice local run on quiet roads – semi rural. This year they introduced a duathlon.

Multi Terrain, very undulating, Grass, tracks, mud, bogs, beach & even a little road. Hills & more hills. Seaton, Devon Different course & race name each year. Extremely popular race – entries open in September and sell out very quickly (< 1 hour!). Friendly and tough. Very scenic. Will take the same time as a road marathon. Grizzly activities held throughout the weekend.

Cross Country, hilly – 3500 feet ascent, one of the hardest off road marathons in the UK Eastbourne, Sussex Very scenic. Excellent food at checkpoints, be prepared for the Seven Sisters hills from mile 20 to 22 then the long climb up to the top of Beachy Head at 25 miles. Post-race meal included!
Le Marathon du Medoc  Marathon http://www.marathondumedoc.com Paul C
Road & tracks through vineyards & Chateaux of the Medoc
Paulliac, France. Flatish marathon with 21 wine tasting stations en route. Also beef, oysters, ham, cheese & ice cream near the end. Special atmosphere. Virtually all runners wear fancy dress with a different theme each year. A pile of race mementoes includes a quality bottle of wine in a special wooden presentation box

Usually off road.
Local venues – Greenham Common & the War Memorial Park, Basingstoke but there are events all over the UK. Free weekly timed 5K amid parkland settings all over the UK. Simply register beforehand – print out your runners bar code & run. A regular fast paced 5K works wonders. Relies on volunteers to run each event so don’t forget to take your turn at helping out from time to time.

Held in Pewsey, Wiltshire. I don’t do many off road but this is one I like because it is very friendly and the cakes afterward is what keeps you going on this very tough course.

Top organisation not one stone is left untouched. And you get a nice hoody for your effort!
Burnham Beeches 10k 10K through woodlands http://www.burnhambeeches10k.com/ Susanne
Very low profile race organised by a Rotary club who will do anything to look after you. Hot free drink waits for you at the woodland cafe afterwards. And then it is a Saturday race so still time for another race on the Sunday !
